With 7 acres marked for our new customer development in GEO, MEO and LEO, in addition to our existing 50+ operational antennas, delivering unhindered connectivity is vital to all current and future satellite services.
Unique C-band protection
The introduction of widespread 5G which operates between 3.3 to 3.6 GHz has caused real interference concerns for satellite communication terminals relying on C-band covering frequencies 3.4 to 4.2 GHz. This overlap in the lower end of C-band is a challenge for both teleports and customers operating in areas with 5G.
However, LEUK is uniquely provisioned with contractual protection from 5G frequencies by OFCOM, the Swiss telecom regulators. This means that the 5G antennas in the valley below our facility are limited in range and frequencies to assure that our satellite frequencies remain interference-free.
Unique topographical protection
In addition to contractual 5G protection by OFCOM, LEUK added natural protection across all frequency bands due to the local topography. Situated on one side of a valley LEUK maintains visibility on all satellites from 70E to 55W whilst being sheltered from interference from Switzerland and surrounding countries across all operational satellite bands.
It is a combination of strong relationships with local regulators, unique geography and our ongoing green energy projects that gives us the confidence to operate Europe’s leading teleport for customers needing established services and new services coming this year and beyond.
